"Here at Project Rooted we know that food is community, and it is a powerful tool that brings us together, shapes our values and memories, and empowers our communities. With this knowledge we believe that we can help shape the future of this community by the simple act of connecting kids to real food from the ground up."

- Whitney Sanger | Co-Founder, Project Rooted

aBOUT PROJECT ROOTED

The mission of Project Rooted is to "Connect kids to real food from the ground up." Our goal is to fulfill this mission by creating a world where everyone has access to fresh local produce, connections to farmers and gardens and is living nourished lives in our schools, homes and community.

Project Rooted understands the importance of not only real food but also locally grown food as well. By purchasing and eating local it creates important economic opportunities, provides health benefits and helps to reduce environmental impact. Most importantly, local food creates a deep connection between community members.

We hope to even deeper that connection right here in the Dubuque Community through initiatives that connect kids and families to the food they eat. We plan on doing this through our innovative programs including Rooted Bucks, taste testing and curriculum for kids, gardening, healthy tips, recipes and so much more.

PRESS

"In recent weeks, thousands of children from throughout the tri-state area were told they could not return to the their classrooms, often with little notice. For many kids, that means more of dad’s PB and J and mom’s mac and cheese than usual. But for some families, a reliable, important source of nutrition for children suddenly was stripped away. So Sanger and company shifted gears..."

"The amount of community partnerships that we’ve been able to make has been absolutely incredible. We definitely want people to know that we came together to make a difference in the community, and we will continue to do that. Project Rooted will always be a non-profit and we’ll always be here.” - Whitney Sanger, Co-Founder | Project Rooted
